Welcome to the
Los Lunas Municipal Zoning Code Update

The Village of Los Lunas initiated an update to its Municipal Zoning Code in April 2023. The last major amendment to the Zoning Code was completed in 2001 and the language has become outdated and lacks continuity, making the Zoning Code difficult to navigate, and out of compliance with New Mexico statutes. Most importantly, the Code does not adequately implement the recently revised Comprehensive Plan, which established the vision for the physical development of the Village. Los Lunas is a growing community that continues to attract significant economic development. The project to update the Municipal Zoning Code is intended to better serve the Village, its residents, property owners, and business owners by providing clear and unambiguous language that supports the Village’s goals.

The Village Council established a Focus Group to review the existing Zoning Code and proposed revisions. The members of the Focus Group are residents of Los Lunas that represent a range of interests. In addition to Focus Group meetings, there will also be meetings before the Village Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission. All of these meetings are open to the public and notifications and meeting minutes are and will be posted to this website. The Village hired Consensus Planning to complete the update to the Municipal Zoning Code.
